Agriculture in St Kitts and Nevis faces significant challenges due to climate change, particularly water scarcity and soil degradation. This project enhances climate resilience by improving water management practices. It includes the development of sustainable farming practices, capacity-building, and the introduction of innovative irrigation systems, as well as drought risk modelling. The project aims to boost agricultural productivity while ensuring environmental sustainability, thereby strengthening the resilience of the agricultural sector against climate change.

Management of transboundary water resources in the Hong-Thai Binh River basin in Vietnam is crucial due to the challenges posed by climate change. To address this, a project was launched to localize water resources management technology, focusing on improving data availability and accuracy for water resource planning. This initiative involved the identification and customization of advanced technologies to monitor and forecast transboundary water flow into Vietnam, as well as installation, testing and capacity-building.

Sudan Soil Erosion Monitoring

In Sudan, soil erosion poses a severe threat to agriculture and food security. To address this, advanced techniques such as Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy and drone-based Earth Observation tools were deployed. These solutions aim to monitor soil health and support climate-smart agriculture, improving the resilience of Sudan's farmers.

Communities along the Nile River are increasingly vulnerable to the impact of climate change, particularly severe flooding. This project enhances the existing Flood Early Warning System (FEWS) by integrating updated hydrologic and hydraulic models and improves real-time data transmission. The initiative aims to strengthen flood preparedness and response, providing timely and accurate flood warnings to reduce the risk and impact of flooding on vulnerable communities.

I am an emerging leader in the area of advancing gender equality in the energy space, and an energy transition expert in the broad sense, having worked on topics from energy access to industrial energy efficiency. I have supported governments, international organisations and NGOs across four continents with gender-responsive energy policy and programme development, and co-authored several reports on  the need to advance gender equality and social inclusion to maximise the socio-economic benefits of the energy transition.
