Micro Hydraulic Power Unit for Electricity Generation in Small-scale, Low-head Environments
Context
In 2014, the energy sector contributed 53.4% of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Viet Nam. The energy sector in general and power generation in particular plays an important role for achieving the target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions under the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC).

Pico & Micro Hydropower System: Low-Cost Hydroelectric Generator
The “Micro Hydropower System” developed by Nakayama Iron Works Ltd., is a type of hydroelectric system that can produce a few kW to 1 MW of electricity. Until now, the company has installed hydropower plants with a maximum capacity of 49.9kW, and they are now working on a project with a maximum capacity of 420kW. The technology can produce electricity using small streams as main resource for power generation.
STREAM: A Micro Hydropower System
STREAM Micro hydropower system, a run-of-river micro-hydropower generating system, can generate electricity extremely well in ultra-low head situations. Because it is so compact and easy to install, it is a good match for areas of de-centralized power generation. Common installations for its use include; agricultural irrigation canals, waterways with regulated water discharge, water treatment plants, and power plants.
Fats/Oil/Grease Separation and Reforming Technology for Power Generation
wastewater derived from daily preparation and consumption of foods contains a lot of fats, oils and grease (FOG). FOG has been increasing proportionally by the world population growth and it has caused a serious
pollution on rivers and seas.
FOG normally exists as small lumps on a surface of wastewater. In general, 60 tons of wastewater are required to purify a 200ml cup of FOG.
TBM Co., Ltd. has two innovative techniques to reuse FOG:

Boosting the Rural Energy Supply with Jatropha
Nippon Biodiesel Fuel Co., Ltd. (NBF) has developed a technology that helps to produce, supply and use renewable energy to replace fossil fuel in remote areas that have little to no energy access. It allows for local consumption and production of energy within rural or remote areas. Providing local residents improved access to affordable energy, this technology also allows them to take part in being producers of energy source.
