The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) with support of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is jointly launching with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) a new USD 10 million small grants programme with funding from the Adaptation Fund. The Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator aims to foster innovation in climate change adaptation in developing countries. The programme targets a broad range of potential finance recipients, including governments, non-governmental organizations, community groups, young innovators and other groups.
Water resources are greatly impacted by the effects of climate change, and so it comes as no surprise that many of the programmes implemented by PPCR countries focus on enhancing water resilience. The case studies presented here, provide some examples of how PPCR countries in the Caribbean are working towards achieving this goal through decentralised solution.
This study summarises the important progress South Africa has made in developing its policy and institutional architecture in response to climate change through the lens of multi-level governance and multi-stakeholder climate action. It is written for both policy makers and development practitioners working in South Africa and is based on the four-year project known as V-LED, or Vertical Integration and Learning for Low-Emission Development in Africa and Southeast Asia.
Context
Agricultural production accounts for 12,9% of Indonesia’s growth domestic product and 43,3% of total employment. However, Indonesia’s agriculture has faced some challenges such as reduction of arable land and climate change on one hand, and the fast-growing population on the other hand. As an archipelagic country, Indonesia has a high risk resulting from the impacts of climate change.
