Biologist with experience in ecology and diversity in plants and herpetofauna. I have developed in climate change and sustainable development and transfer technology in entities linked to the UNFCCC and as spokesperson for Ecuador in previous COP's with the MAATE. Graduated in Biological Sciences at the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador.

 

I have formed and directed climate education and scientific dissemination projects with international institutions such as SOS UK Charity, UNICEF Caribe, PUCE, YOUNGO and ICAN.

Bio

Luis Pineda was born in Loja, Ecuador. He is an experienced hydrologist with about 20 years’ work experience as practitioner and researcher in water resources. He obtained his PhD in engineering sciences – Hydro-climatology in KU Leuven University, Belgium, in 2015 funded by an EMECW grant from the European Commission. He also got a MSc. in water resources engineering from KU Leuven & VU Brussel in 2008 and a MA. in sustainable water resources with focus on climate from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology ETH Zurich, Switzerland, in 2010.

Publication date

12 February 2024 – Copenhagen. The European Commission launches a EUR 2 million (USD 2.1 million) grant in support of the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN). The project will run for the next two years to bolster technology for climate action in developing countries, with a special focus on least developing countries (LDCs) and small island developing states (SIDS).
