The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), the implementation arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism hosted by UNEP, supports developing countries in accelerating climate technology development and transfer through technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge sharing. As part of its mandate, CTCN convenes National Designated Entities (NDEs) the national focal points for climate technology to strengthen collaboration, exchange experiences, and advance country-driven climate technology action.

Building on the success of the inaugural global SIDS NDE Forum in 2025, CTCN is organizing the 2026 SIDS Joint Programme: NDE Forum, Capacity Building on AI for Adaptive Management in the Energy Sector, and Voluntary Technology Talk, to be held from 14–18 September 2026 in Incheon and Busan, Republic of Korea, in partnership with the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI). The programme responds to the growing need for integrated, system-level approaches to climate action and supports Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in leveraging emerging technologies to address complex climate and energy challenges.

The five-day programme combines the SIDS NDE Forum, an advanced capacity building programme on artificial intelligence for adaptive management in the energy sector, and the Voluntary Technology Talk, creating a platform for peer learning, policy dialogue, technology exchange, and collaboration. Participants will explore practical applications of AI to strengthen adaptive management, engage with leading climate technology providers, and exchange experiences on technology deployment, financing, and innovation to accelerate resilient and sustainable energy transitions across SIDS.
