Green Climate Fund
The Green Climate Fund catalyzes investment in transformative climate technologies. As the operating entities of the Convention - CTCN under the Technology Mechanism and GCF under the Financial Mechanism - both established under the CMA and governed by the COP, we work together to support developing countries in accessing finance for low-emission, climate-resilient development pathways. We place strong emphasis on country-driven priorities and coordinated national ownership.
Global Environment Facility
As one of the oldest and largest multilateral environmental funds, the Global Environment Facility supports a broad range of environmental projects, often smaller in scale. In partnership with the UN Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), our collaborative projects enhance countries’ adaptive management capacities to address climate challenges effectively.
World Intellectual Property Organization - WIPO
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) promotes the use of intellectual property to support innovation and technology development, including in the field of climate change. In collaboration with the CTCN, WIPO helps build capacity and facilitate access to the WIPO GREEN database, supporting the transfer and deployment of climate technologies in developing countries.
Adaptation Fund
The Adaptation Fund finances concrete climate adaptation projects that help vulnerable communities in developing countries adapt to climate change. Initiatives are based on country needs, views and priorities. Our joint efforts support countries to test, scale up and leverage innovative, transformative, and locally led climate adaptation technologies across the technology cycle and anchor these into National Systems of Innovation.
Women Engage for a Common Future (WECF)
The Women Engage for a Common Future champions gender equality and women’s leadership in environmental and climate action. Through our collaboration, we advance gender-just climate solutions that are inclusive, locally rooted, and responsive to the diverse needs of communities. By integrating gender-responsive approaches, we empower women and marginalized groups to lead transformative action at the grassroots level.
SF6 Transition Network
The SF₆ Transition Network is a global knowledge exchange platform on the management and phase-out of SF₆ , convening pioneers and interested stakeholders from government, industry, finance, international organizations, NGOs and academia to share experience, learn from each other, align approaches, and accelerate the transition away from SF₆ in the power sector.

RD&D Programmes
Exclusive to our Network members, our RD&D programmes provide a platform for knowledge exchange and the establishment of twinning institutional arrangements between Network members. With the support of our NDEs, we offer three modules that engage Network members in playing a central role in both North-South and South-South collaboration for climate technologies. The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) was established in March 1998 under an initiative of the Japanese government with the aim to achieve a new paradigm for civilization and conduct innovative policy development and strategic research for environmental measures, reflecting the results of research into political decisions for realising sustainable development both in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) is an intergovernmental organization to promote adoption and sustainable use of renewable energy. It was founded in 2009 and its statute entered into force on 8 July 2010. The agency is headquartered in Abu Dhabi.
The Climate Knowledge Brokers (CKB) Group is an emerging alliance of around 150 of the leading global, regional and national knowledge brokers specialising in climate and development information. It brings together a diverse set of information players, from international organisations to research institutes, NGOs and good practice networks, and covers the full breadth of climate related themes. The focus is on primarily online initiatives, and those that play an explicit knowledge brokerage role, rather than being simply institutional websites.
The National Institute of Green Technology (NIGT) is a government affiliated research institute under the Ministry of Science & ICT (MSIT) that provides national green technology R&D policies and coordinates related domestic/international organizations to support sustainable development of other countries based on green/climate change technologies. NIGT serves as Republic of Korea’s gateway for global green technology cooperation, as it connects developed and developing countries for growth and diffusion of green technology and strategies.
LEAD Pakistan is a premier and an internationally recognized non‐profit organization, working to create and sustain a global network of leaders committed to promote change towards patterns of economic development that are environmentally sustainable and socially equitable. LEAD Pakistan’s mission is to create, strengthen and support networks of people and institutions.
The Climate and Clean Air Coalition is a voluntary partnership of governments, intergovernmental organizations, businesses, scientific institutions and civil society organizations committed to protecting the climate and improving air quality through actions to reduce short-lived climate pollutants. These pollutants, which include methane, black carbon, tropospheric ozone, and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), are powerful climate forcers. Some are also dangerous air pollutants that significantly contribute to premature death and chronic illness globally. However, because of their short lifespan in the atmosphere (from weeks to decades), actions to reduce them provide quick results for air quality, the climate, and development. The Coalition has 11 initiatives working to raise awareness, mobilize resources and lead transformative actions in key sectors. Coalition measures to reduce short-lived climate pollutants can directly prevent up to 2.4 million premature deaths a year and help avoid up to half a degree Celsius of additional warming by 2050. These actions must go hand in hand with deep and persistent cuts to carbon dioxide and other long-lived greenhouse gases in order to achieve the goal of the Paris Agreement and keep global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
With 197 Parties, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has near universal membership and is the parent treaty of the 1997 Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol has been ratified by 192 of the UNFCCC Parties.
The ultimate objective of both treaties is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that will prevent dangerous human interference with the climate system.
The CCKP provides a web-based platform to assist in capacity building and knowledge development. The aim of the portal is to help provide development practitioners with a resource to explore, evaluate, synthesize, and learn about climate related vulnerabilities and risks at multiple levels of details. Using climate science research results to inform the decision making process concerning policies or specific measures needed to tackle climate impacts, or even to understand low carbon development processes, is often a difficult, yet crucial, undertaking.
The CCKP contains environmental, disaster risk, and socio-economic datasets, as well as synthesis products, such as the Climate Adaptation Country Profiles, which are built and packaged for specific user-focused functions such as climate change indices for a particular country. The portal also provides intelligent links to other resources and tools.
The CCKP consists of spatially referenced data visualized on a Google Maps interface. Users are able to evaluate climate-related vulnerabilities, risks, and actions for a particular location on the globe by interpreting climate and climate-related data at different levels of details.
The Global e-Sustainability Initiative (GeSI) is a strategic partnership of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and organizations committed to creating and promoting technologies and practices that foster economic, environmental and social sustainability. Formed in 2001, GeSI’s vision is a sustainable world through responsible, ICT-enabled transformation. GeSI fosters global and open cooperation, informs the public of its members’ voluntary actions to improve their sustainability performance, and promotes technologies that foster sustainable development. GeSI enjoys a diverse and global membership, representing around 40 of the world’s leading ICT companies and partners with over 12 global business and international organizations such as the International Telecommunications Union (ITU), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the World Resources Forum Association (WRFA) – as well as a range of international stakeholders committed to ICT sustainability objectives to share and develop ideas, launch joint initiatives, and collaborate on a broad range of sustainability projects. These partnerships help shape GeSI’s global vision regarding the evolution of the ICT sector, and how it can best meet the challenges of sustainable development.
Practical Action Consulting (PAC) is the consulting arm of Practical Action, an international non-governmental organisation that uses technology to challenge poverty in developing countries. Through technology PAC enables poor communities to build on their skills and knowledge to produce sustainable and practical solutions - transforming their lives forever and protecting the world around them. Every year PAC uses technology to help over 1 million people out of poverty.
