Vaibhav Jain is a climate finance, carbon-markets and sustainable-cities specialist with over twelve years of experience helping cities, governments, development finance institutions and project developers turn climate technologies into financed, bankable projects. He is the Founding Managing Director of Climate Decode, and previously led offset project origination and investments at ClearBlue Markets and the sustainable-cities and carbon-removal practice at South Pole. He holds a BA (Hons.) in Financial Services and International Business from Leeds Beckett University (UK) and contributes to the IETA, ICROA and VCMI working groups.
His work spans climate-technology deployment across clean cooking, e-mobility, renewable energy, waste-to-energy and nature-based and engineered carbon removals — taking projects from pre-feasibility through carbon-market structuring (Verra, Gold Standard, Article 6) to financial close. He has coached eight Indian cities and supported 112 European cities under NetZeroCities on climate investment planning, and is a lead author of the UNDP/UNFCCC Biennial Report on Global Infrastructure Resilience.
Gender-responsive and socially inclusive design runs throughout his work. He has embedded gender content in capacity-building and training programmes — training 150+ public-sector officials on climate change, carbon markets and climate finance (BMU-GIZ) and co-developing training materials with GIZ, Frankfurt School and NetZeroCities — and applies a gender lens across clean-cooking deployment (women's health and energy access), inclusive urban climate action and gender-responsive climate budgeting, so that climate-technology investment reaches and benefits women and underserved communities.
