This technical assistance will establish the Tanzania Climate Innovation Centre (TCIC) within COSTECH as a national hub to accelerate climate technology development and deployment. By addressing barriers such as limited financing, fragmented incubation support, and lack of regulatory flexibility, the project will provide integrated services including tailored incubation, mentorship, resource mobilization, and a digital platform with a regulatory sandbox to support start-ups.
Key outcomes include a fully operational TCIC with trained staff, strategic and sustainability plans, and stronger linkages between innovators, industry, academia, and regulators.
Over time, this initiative will enhance technology transfer, strengthen Tanzania’s innovation ecosystem, boost the number of climate-focused start-ups, and contribute to national climate goals through improved renewable energy access, sustainable agriculture, and resilience building
