Strengthening the resilience of the city of Ouagadougou by promoting and deploying green infrastructures in the face of climate change

The objective of this technical assistance is to contribute to defining an approach to strengthen the resilience of the city of Ouagadougou through the implementation of climate change adaptation actions combining numerous technologies that use mainly living plants to promote urban green infrastructure. The specific objectives will be i) to carry out a territorial and geo-spatial diagnosis of the city of Ouagadougou through the use of satellite technologies. ii) to identify the sites in consultation with all stakeholders iii) to identify plant species that can adapt to the climatic zone concerned iv) to develop the plan for the development and management of the sites as well as the needs for support and capacity building of stakeholders, v) to ensure an educational component, targeted at the youngest and most vulnerable populations in order to raise awareness among the general public on the importance of plant species protection, the role of green spaces in sustainable cities, and their impacts as an instrument of resilience to the effects of climate change, vi) facilitate access to climate finance through the drafting of a concept note.
