Mobilising Public–Private Partnerships for Climate Action – Lessons from Denmark

May 5, 2026, 13.30 - 15.00 CET

This webinar, hosted by the UN CTCN in collaboration with the Danish Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and State of Green, explored how public–private partnerships (PPPs) can accelerate climate action, drawing on Denmark’s experience in building effective collaboration between government, industry and financial institutions.

Participants were introduced to Denmark’s PPP framework and Climate Partnerships model, highlighting how structured collaboration between public and private actors can support the transition to a low-emission and climate-resilient economy. The session also examined practical approaches to financing climate partnerships, including how to mobilise private capital and align financial systems with climate goals.

A key feature of the webinar was the presentation of a new playbook developed by State of Green, which provides hands-on guidance, tools and lessons learned for designing and implementing effective public–private collaboration in the climate space. The playbook is intended as a practical resource that can be adapted and applied in different national contexts.

Participants gained insights in:

  • A successful model to structure and operationalise public–private partnerships for climate action
  • Mobilise finance and engage the private sector in climate solutions
  • Apply practical tools and frameworks to strengthen national climate implementation

The objective was to share Denmark’s experience, key findings, and practical lessons learned in mobilising public-private collaboration for climate action. This can inspire replication of partnership models across countries working to deliver on their climate commitments, in particular developing countries. The playbook will subsequently be made available to NDEs and the broader CTCN network to support knowledge exchange and replication in other national contexts.
