The UNFCCC Technology Mechanism comprises the Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) as its implementation arm and the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) as its policy arm. Together, the CTCN and TEC deliver the Technology Mechanism Joint Work Programme (2023–2027). National Designated Entities (NDEs) serve as countries’ focal points for technology development and transfer: they are designated by Parties to manage all technology collaboration activities at the national level undertaken under the CTCN and TEC.

As part of its mandate, the Technology Mechanism convenes regular engagements with NDEs to build capacity, monitor priorities, and communicate opportunities. Annual NDE introduction webinars are organized to onboard newly appointed NDEs and to provide updates on NDE roles and responsibilities, as well as TEC and CTCN procedures, in order to facilitate technical assistance, capacity building, and knowledge management activities. This regional session will serve to strengthen engagement with Eastern European NDEs and act as a stepping stone towards the first in-person NDE Forum for the region in 2026.
