I am a climate change expert with 13 years of experience in climate change projects and policies, GHG inventory, mitigation actions in the main sectors (energy, industry, agriculture, and waste), measuring reporting and verification (MRV) of climate change actions, Clean Development Mechanism projects ("CDM"), and National Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs), in addition to air and water pollution monitoring and management. For my educational background, I majored in natural science, and I had a master's degree in climate change management.
Currently, I am working as a climate change advisor at the Egyptian-German Joint Committee on Renewable Energy, Energy Efficiency, and Environmental Protection (JCEE) at GIZ to manage climate change activities.
I register as an expert on the UNFCCC roster of experts in GHG reporting according to UNFCCC guidelines and a certified expert in the GHG inventory of energy and industry sectors from the GHG management institute in the USA.
During nine years of my work as a climate change researcher at the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency (EEAA), I gained a great deal of experience in climate change mitigation actions and measures in different sectors, such as energy, industry, and waste sectors, GHG inventory, accounting for GHG emissions reductions, and coordinating and managing climate change projects and initiatives. I was involved in the review of Egypt’s first Biennial Update Report and served as the focal point of the Egypt Biennial Update Report (BUR)-UNDP Project. In addition, I managed and coordinated Egypt's third and fourth national communication project activities. In addition, I helped organize many events and workshops to raise awareness and build the capacity of environmental researchers, journalists, and media personnel on climate change topics.
Moreover, I have experience in communication with multi-stakeholder platforms that include civil society, the private sector, government representatives, and international organizations related to climate change, such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
