Gulnar Wakim

Gulnar Wakim is a gender equality, human rights and social development expert with extensive academic, professional and field-based experience across the Middle East, Africa and other international contexts. Her work focuses on gender equality and social inclusion, women’s empowerment and political participation, protection, human rights, institutional gender mainstreaming, research, training and evaluation. She has worked with UN agencies, international organizations, governments and civil society organizations, including on projects related to climate action, economic recovery, governance and institutional capacity development. Her practical experience includes leading gender assessments and audits, conducting qualitative research and stakeholder consultations, developing gender-responsive strategies and guidance, facilitating trainings, and evaluating programmes using participatory and evidence-based approaches. She combines academic expertise with strong field experience, enabling her to translate gender and human rights principles into practical recommendations, policies and programme interventions adapted to different institutional and country contexts.
