Background:

The session will provide insights into what it means to be a climate innovator, including a design thinking mini-workshop and the opportunity to hear from young entrepreneurs currently participating in the programme.

Objectives:

  • Inspire and inform youth about climate innovation as a pathway for climate action and entrepreneurship
  • Introduce the Youth Climate Innovation Programme and its ecosystem of support for young innovators
  • Provide hands-on experience with identifying and shaping a climate solution through a design thinking exercise
  • Share real-world experiences from current youth climate innovators
  • Highlight key capacities needed to move from idea to implementation in the climate innovation space

This session is organized by:

  • Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) - provides technology solutions, capacity building and advice on policy, legal and regulatory frameworks tailored to the needs of individual countries by harnessing the expertise of a global network of technology companies and institutions;
  • Seedstars - a global organization, founded in 2012, with a mission to impact people’s lives in emerging markets by backing entrepreneurs with know-how, community, and capital. It is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs thrive through community building, capacity development, and access to capital. With a strong presence across emerging markets globally, Seedstars has been a pioneer in fostering entrepreneurial ecosystems for over a decade.
  • The Youth4Capacity programme - building the capacity of young people to act on climate change while promoting active exchange of experiences and addressing the linkages between climate action, the SDGs, and the three Rio conventions.
