The CTCN is seeking experts to participate in the upcoming solicitation to provide technical assistance on:

Enhancing weather and climate data management Innovation in Tajikistan through AI and Observation-Based High-Resolution Data Management Platform

Deadline: 4 September 2026

Tajikistan is highly vulnerable to climate change, particularly due to its dependence on glacier-fed water systems. The country has already lost around 30% of its glacier area since 1930, while rising temperatures, extreme weather events and growing water stress are increasing risks across the water–energy–food nexus. Yet limited high-resolution and real-time climate data, sparse ground observations and insufficient integration of satellite data constrain effective forecasting, water resource management, disaster risk reduction and climate adaptation.

Through this technical assistance, the CTCN will support Tajikistan in developing and piloting an AI-enabled climate data management and quality control system that integrates ground-based and satellite observations, while strengthening institutional capacities to generate and use reliable climate information for climate-informed decision-making. Some of the expected outputs include:

  • Development of a national climate data management and AI integration framework;
  • Piloting of an AI-based climate data quality control system;
  • Capacity building and institutional strengthening for climate data management and use; and
  • Development of a scale-up roadmap, sustainability strategy and investment pathways to support wider adoption and long-term operation of the system.
