The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN), in collaboration with the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Readiness Team, hosted two introductory sessions for newly appointed GCF Liaison Officers in June and October 2026 at the CTCN Partnership and Liaison Office.

The sessions introduced participants to CTCN's mandate, services and technical assistance, with a particular focus on the role of National Designated Entities (NDEs) in identifying and addressing countries' climate technology needs. Discussions also highlighted opportunities to strengthen coordination between NDEs and GCF National Designated Authorities (NDAs), facilitate technology–finance linkages and support the implementation of country-driven climate priorities.

Building on the initial engagement in June, the October session reinforced the importance of continued collaboration and knowledge exchange with GCF Liaison Officers. These engagements form part of CTCN's broader efforts to strengthen national institutional coordination, promote synergies between climate technology support and climate finance, and enhance country ownership of climate action.

About GCF Liaison Officers

Under the GCF Readiness Strategy 2024–2027, National Designated Authorities (NDAs) and focal points may request the placement of a GCF Liaison Officer within their offices or another relevant national institution.

GCF Liaison Officers support countries in their engagement with the GCF Secretariat, including country programming, medium-term readiness planning, the development of funding proposals, coordination of readiness activities and climate investments, and monitoring and reporting.

The initiative seeks not only to facilitate effective engagement with the GCF but also to strengthen long-term national institutional capacity to advance country-driven climate priorities.
