NAWE is a Network of Networks and seeks to amplify voices of organisations working on the continent to catalyse a shift away from business-as-usual land use and agricultural systems towards practices that restore long-term productivity, bolster livelihoods, safeguard biodiversityand ecosystem services and provide climate solutions. Under the event theme of “Amplify to Accelerate: African Gender Networks leading Climate Action” representatives from the five regions of the continent will be invited to participate in a hybrid event (virtual and small group of in-person speakers). Particular interest will be given to new champions of nature-based solutions, including at non-sate actors such as traditional and cultural keepers, sub-national and community levels groups, youth and indigenous communities.
Technology partners in the private sector, academia and international agencies will also be invited to highlight other levers of change such as digitalisation and use of spatial data (which can work across environment into gender and poverty). The private sector and corporate leaders who have shown commitment to supporting nature-sensitive investment and production and promoting financial inclusion for women will be invited to connect with the networks and organisations who are NAWE members to form new coalitions around transformative change.
