COP27. Accelerating Climate Change Adaptation Action through Innovation

• Context/Background: The purpose of the event is to engage in a discussion on accelerating, encouraging and enabling climate change adaptation innovation for an effective, long-term global response to climate change. The Adaptation Fund launched the Adaptation Fund Climate Innovation Accelerator (AFCIA) in 2018 which is fostering innovation of adaptation practices at the local level in vulnerable countries. UNEP-CTCN and UNDP are administrating these grants and with over 3 years of implementation, present an opportunity to share key lessons and best practices for scaling up local innovation. The event will also present an opportunity to hear about scalable solutions from local actors,university/researchorganization,thoughtleadersandyouthvoices. Finally,theeventwillraise awareness of the work done in the innovation space, as well as highlight funding opportunities especially established to support innovation in adaptation
