Problem
Vietnam faces pressing challenges from climate change, driven by greenhouse gas emissions, particularly CO2, and the widespread burning of agricultural and forestry residues, which harm the environment. Additionally, reliance on traditional fossil fuels like coal exacerbates these issues, while creating economic burdens from high fuel costs.

The Volumetric Continuous Biomass Gasification (VCBG) technology addresses the critical problem of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change by transforming agricultural and forestry residues into clean energy.
Solution
The Volumetric Continuous Biomass Gasification (VCBG) technology addresses climate and energy challenges by transforming biomass waste into clean energy. It works by burning organic-based materials, such as corn cobs, cassava stalks, and sawdust, under low-oxygen conditions. Biomass is fed into the VCBG unit, where it generates syngas in the reaction chamber. The syngas is then burned to produce heat for various applications.

This process replaces fossil fuels like coal, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Additionally, VCBG produces biochar, a byproduct that can sequester carbon, improve soil quality, and purify water.

Key features of VCBG include continuous feeding for uninterrupted operation, high heat efficiency, a negative-pressure reaction chamber to prevent toxic gas leaks, and minimal fuel handling requirements. These advantages make it an economical and sustainable solution, lowering fuel costs and supporting a stable energy supply.

Developed by the Center for Creativity and Sustainability Study and Consultancy (CCS), VCBG represents a practical and scalable approach to mitigating climate change, reducing waste, and advancing Vietnam's transition to a clean energy future.
