This, the first installment of the Renewable Energy Technologies Cost Analysis Series, finds that the cost of biomass for power generation varies greatly depending on technology and location. The report finds that the levelized cost of energy from biomass power plants ranges from USD 0.06/kWh to USD 0.29/kWh depending on capital costs and feedstock costs. The potential for lower costs is not great in the short-term, but as emerging technologies mature, the report states that more optimism for cost reductions in the long-term will be warranted.
