The Africa Dialogue on Cement for Green Industrialization brought the people who shape the sector into one room. Governments, cement producers, financial institutions, researchers, construction stakeholders, young professionals and development partners worked through a shared question: How can Africa build the infrastructure it needs while strengthening local industry and reducing emissions?
The Dialogue was the first Africa-wide event dedicated to mapping the cement decarbonization landscape and identifying practical pathways for implementation. It linked cement production with infrastructure, construction, jobs, trade, industrial policy, and climate action. The three days followed the journey from understanding how cement is made to identifying how change can happen at scale.
The Dialogue began on a cement plant floor and ended with countries, industry and partners sitting together to discuss how to move low carbon cement projects forward. That progression captured its central message: Africa already has many of the technologies, resources and examples it needs. The next challenge is to connect them and deliver at scale.
