With its 9500 sqm the Botanical Roof Garden of Augustenborg is an ever-evolving testbed of urban greening. Here you get to see more than 20 different solutions for greening a rooftop, from the most extensive green roofs to biosolar solutions and even a rooftop kitchen garden. The Botanical Roof Garden of Augustenborg first opened to the public in 2001. During the last 20 years the garden has evolved from a small showcase to a world-renowned testbed of urban green infrastructure. Several research projects are active on the roof. Some of Scandinavia’s most progressive greening companies show their products for comparison on the roof. Here you can evaluate what system fits your project.

When visiting the roof garden, you get a chance to hear a lecture about green roof construction and what benefits green roofs provide. The tour on the roof garden will provide you with all the arguments you need for greening roofs in your area. And you will learn all the basics of what conditions are essential for enabling green roofs on both new and existing buildings. The guides also show you the basics around biochar and blue-green infrastructure.

Take a tour on the rooftops and enjoy the wildlife presented on the roof. Birds, bees and other insects thrive on this large and ever-evolving green oasis in an otherwise industrial area of Malmö.

All parts of the roof are accessible with a wheelchair.
