Networking & Collaboration
Technologies are vital to building climate-resilient, low-carbon societies. Many essential technologies already exist — the challenge is to get them deployed where they are needed, and to build the enabling environments to support technology innovation, adaptation and scale-up. An overwhelming number of developing countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement indicate a requirement for technology support and capacity building in order to achieve their commitments. To meet this need, the CTCN serves as a demand-driven and trusted partner, matching developing countriy needs for climate change-related equipment, methods, capacity development and policy advice with the world-class expertise of its Network and our collaborators.
Energy Changes Projektentwicklung GmbH
Energy Changes´ (EC) business activities solely focus on GHG mitigation activities applying renewable energies and energy efficiency measures. EC identifies, evaluates and develops renewable energy/ energy efficiency and GHG mitigation projects. EC’s staff includes engineers, scientists, economists and business experts with many years of experience in sustainable energy, resource management and GHG mitigation. EC was founded in 2006 and has currently 15 employees and an annual turnover of approx. 2 million EUR. Energy Changes is based in Vienna, Austria with an additional office in Austria.
On international level Energy Changes has been conducting consultancy services in the energy and carbon sector for businesses, governments and various national and international organizations, such as EBRD, EIB, IFC, Swedish Energy Agency, UNDP, UNIDO, or the Austrian Development Agency. Energy Changes’ experts has prepared more than 75 CDM/JI projects for approval at the UNFCCC, have authored seven new CDM/JI/VCS methodologies, developed NAMAs for more than 10 countries and has stakes in a registered CDM/JI portfolio with an annual emission reduction potential of over 3.5 million tons CO2e. For the worldwide first of its kind CDM project “Massive introduction of Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFLs) to households in Ecuador” Energy Changes has been awarded with the national Energy Globe for Ecuador.
On national level Energy Changes has prepared energy strategies for over 150 municipalities and regional entities in Austria. Energy Changes subsequently also implements the identified projects (e.g. PV pooling, district heating, wind power). For one of its local energy concepts Energy Changes has been awarded by the Austrian Chamber of Commerce for innovative approaches which strengthen local economies while at the same time changing their energy systems.
