Kaidi Ru is a UN SDSN Local Pathways Fellow, a UNDP Social Protection Platform Ambassador and a WIPO ADR Young Member. She holds an MPhil in Management from the University of Cambridge and participated in the 2022 UNU-IAS ProSPER.Net Leadership Programme.
Outside of work, Kaidi is a YOUNGO-nominated observer to the UNFCCC Technology Executive Committee (TEC) Activity Groups on RD&D, Buildings and Infrastructure, and Transformative Industry.
Earlier this year, Kaidi was a judge for the 2023 RSA Student Design Awards Brief 2, 'Powering People', which challenges students to use their creativity to make community-led renewable energy transitions accessible to everyone, including those most in need. She was also a Youth Jury Member for the 2023 Action for Wetlands Fund Award, co-hosted by the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and Danone, to support progressive ideas and approaches to wetland restoration.
Previously, Kaidi contributed to a position paper on young practitioners in energy technology and contributing practices for the implementation and monitoring of SDG7 2023-2030, which was presented to the Global Expert Group Meeting in preparation for the SDG7 review at the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) 2023.
Kaidi has mentored and supported founders across Africa, Asia, and Europe, helping them understand business creation, technology transfer, and cross-border startups in the climate technology landscape. She hopes to share her experiences with like-minded individuals, who are excited to be part of the charging steam that will drive the achievement of the SDGs and the New Urban Agenda.
