Please provide your short bio reflecting on your academic, professional and practical background

I am a data scientist with over 15 years of experience in the field of social justice and international development. I am inspired by an internal mission to facilitate meaningful research at the intersection of environmental science and human development and by the use of state-of-the-art information technology to inform evidence-based policy and decision-making.

My research interests focus on understanding how climate change and environmental depletion affect women and men differently, why an intersectional perspective to monitoring human impact is essential to inform policy discourse, and how different tools and data sources can surface these issues and foster actionable insights. An essential aspect of my applied research is how to disseminate findings in an accessible format, including innovative data visualizations, to maximize reach among technical and non-technical audiences.

My research portfolio includes over 40 published works, comprising global reports, book chapters, journal articles, and media/blog commentaries in the gender and sustainable development space. During my career, I have amassed over a decade of experience in global project and program management, primarily within the United Nations system. Commencing with my tenure at UNDP within the Human Development Report Office and continuing for the past fourteen years at UN Women, where I manage the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global data and research programme.

As lead author and manager of UN Women’s flagship report, Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals: The Gender Snapshot, I have extensive experience identifying research and policy gaps and developing strategic research and data partnerships to fill these gaps, including in the climate space. My research work has led to collaborations with partners at the intersection of gender, water, natural resource management, and climate change. The findings of this analytical work have been disseminated widely, including most recently at the UN Water Conference and COP28 this year in Dubai.
