Profile
I started my professional career after obtaining a BSc. in Agriculture in the year 1992 as a development assistant and gained valuable field experience in dry zone and wet zone agriculture with hands-on experience in the development of small and medium scale product processing industries. In the year 1999, had a chance to join the university system and gained experience in research, development, and teaching in the field of agricultural engineering and water resources management.
After completing my MPhil. in the year 2004 (GPA 3.76) further expanded my capabilities to work and manage water and other natural resources with stakeholder participation effectively. In addition to that, I was able to complete an MSc. in green technology in the year 2014 (GPA 3.35) which drove my interest and capabilities to work towards technological interventions, energy management, and improvements of ecosystem resilience in degraded ecosystems concerning the improvement of livelihoods of human and other living beings.
I had an opportunity to become a principal proposal writer of a research team formulated to write a proposal for the World Bank under the University Grant Commission and gained experience in SWOT analysis, force field analysis, root cause analysis, formulating problem statements and objectives to achieve solutions, formulating project implementation plans, and monitoring and evaluation procedures concerning international standards. Similar work experience was gained at the IUCN in the year 2017 as a junior consultant for the Multi-Stakeholder “Kelani” River Basin Management program. Very recently (2022), I was able to participate in the scenario-building process for the Carbon Net Zero 2050 Sri Lanka. I own one patent for a non-leaking water tap and several other pending patents are with me namely, a solar indoor cooker, a super-heated steam generator using solar energy, a cooking stove to reduce gas and fuel wood consumption, and a modified Grab hoe to improve the soil turning efficiency. I worked for UNIDO for five years starting from 2018 up to October 2023 and gained valuable experience in managing Polychlorinated Biphenylene under a project conducted by the Ministry of Environment.
Presently, I am working on the Sri Lanka AFOLU project as the IT consultant for MRV systems development under the Ministry of Environment.
