Anu Vettathuparambil Velayudhan is a Climate Researcher and System Engineer at the Global Climate Forum (GCF) in Berlin, specializing in the intersection of climate change, biodiversity, and sustainable forestry. She contributes to EU-funded projects such as Real Deal and Eco2Adapt, focusing on decision theatres, forest biodiversity, and climate resilience. Anu holds a Master’s degree in Civil Systems Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin and a Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur. With over a decade of combined experience in academia and applied research, she has published multiple peer-reviewed papers on climate modeling, wildfire risk, and carbon dynamics. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans systems engineering, life cycle assessment, and sustainable infrastructure design, supported by strong proficiency in R, Python, and sustainability analytics tools such as SimaPro and GREET.
Anu has an extensive publication record, with over 18 peer-reviewed works. Thirteen of her earlier papers focus on construction engineering, sustainable infrastructure, and geotechnical systems, while her recent studies, published and presented at international conferences such as IUFRO 2025, EMCEI, SSFE, and ESEV, address topics in climate change, forestry, and carbon sequestration. Her latest papers include “Climate and Biodiversity Nexus: Strategies for Sustainable Forestry in Europe” (accepted in Forest and Nature Journal), “Wildfire Trends and Burned Area Dynamics in Italy (2007–2022)” (under review in Springer Discover Forests), and “Analyzing and Projecting Annual Temperature Variations in Europe (2000–2025)” (in progress).
With dual master’s degrees from Technische Universität Berlin and IIT Kharagpur, Anu brings an interdisciplinary perspective bridging engineering, environmental systems, and climate science.
