Innovation and technology are crucial for accelerating climate change mitigation and adaptation worldwide. While effective solutions are increasingly available, the focus must now shift to broad, rapid implementation.

The “Implementing change. Identifying energy innovation and technology for climate change” side event, hosted by WIPO in partnership with the Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) and Egypt's Academy of Scientific Research & Technology (ASRT), will launch the third edition of the Green Technology Book (GTB), featuring the latest energy innovations aimed at addressing climate challenges. The GTB's energy edition offers targeted solutions for rural, urban, and essential service sectors-like hospitals and data centers-across both mitigation and adaptation needs. Representatives from featured technology companies will also showcase their solutions.

The participants will receive insights from multiple UN agencies working on climate technology. FAO's Office of Innovation will discuss inclusive energy technologies in agriculture, ITU will highlight green digital infrastructure and the Green Digital Action initiative, UNCTAD will address energy technology's role in trade and development, and UNIDO will present the Global Cleantech Innovation Index 2024, emphasizing support for start-ups and SMEs to scale impactful solutions.

The agenda for this event will be announced shortly.
