Green Technology Bank (GTB) is a key initiative launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Science and Technology of China (the Most) and the Municipal Government of Shanghai, which focuses on implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Paris Climate Change Agreement. It aims to boost technical and financial support for green development. Its missions include facilitating innovation on advanced green technologies, scaling up low-carbon solutions for environmental challenges, promoting transfers of green technology in developing countries and providing financial support for green development. The initiative also forms part of China’s Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) and evolving South-South cooperation to bring support to the sustainable development and climate action ambitions of developing countries as well as within China.
