The CTCN is seeking experts to participate in the upcoming solicitation to provide technical assistance on:
Support for Establishment of Tanzania Climate Innovation Centre (TCIC) within the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH)

Tanzania faces mounting climate challenges, including erratic rainfall, prolonged droughts, and pressure on water and energy resources, while entrepreneurs developing climate solutions struggle to access finance, skills, and tailored support. To address these gaps, a national Climate Innovation Centre hosted at COSTECH is proposed to provide incubation, mentorship, financing, and networking opportunities for entrepreneurs and SMEs. The centre will focus on developing and scaling locally relevant climate technologies, such as solar-powered irrigation and renewable energy for rural enterprises, while building the skills and partnerships needed to grow sustainable, climate-resilient businesses.
The CTCN will provide technical assistance to design and operationalize the Tanzania Climate Innovation Centre. This includes addressing key barriers such as the lack of specialized incubation for climate start-ups, limited access to finance, weak R&D-commercialization links, and the absence of supportive regulatory frameworks. Some of the expected outputs are:
- Conduct a comprehensive needs analysis and benchmark International best practices;
- Functional layout of the Climate Innovation Centre within COSTECH;
- Action plan to establish the proposed TCIC;
- Developing an intergrated regulatory sandbox;
- Establishing TCIC digital platform;

Capacity development of TCIC team and final stakeholders workshop and Centre's Inauguration.
