Capacity building and training

A country cannot mitigate or adapt to climate change without first strengthening skills and the knowledge to do so. The CTCN works with network members and local stakeholders to provide information, training and support to build and/or strengthen the capacity of developing countries to identify, maintain and adapt climate technology solutions.  Capacity building and training can enable decision-makers to initiate change on local and national level. As part of this effort, the CTCN strives to develop analytical tools, policies and best practices for country-driven climate mitigation and adaptation.     China National Cleaner Production Center (CNCPC) was established in 1994, mainly focusing on Cleaner Production Strategy, namely, transformation to pollution prevention strategy. It conducted a series of activities in CP (Cleaner Production) area, serving for energy conservation and pollution reduction. It is committed to reduce pollution including the GHG emission and enhance resources efficiency in China in industry sector, agriculture sector and service sector.

    The Global Efficient Lighting Centre (GELC) – UNEP Collaborating Centre for Energy Efficient Lighting was launched in partnership between the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the National Lighting Test Centre (NLTC) in 2011. GELC is a non-profit organization running as an independent third party. It is a specialized and accredited facility that provides lighting testing, training, quality control, capacity building, and standard development advice support to the developing and emerging countries.

    Energy and Environmental Development Research Center (EED) is an institution committed to policy and economic research on energy and environment, technology development, as well as professional training, institutional strengthening, and capacity building. EED’s service areas cover: i) climate change/low-carbon economic development; ii) new/renewable energy development; iii) energy efficiency improvement; iv) environmental protection in rural and regional areas; v) industrial and urban pollution control; and vi) energy and environment advisory.
