The purpose of this research was to develop, in conjunction with local stakeholders, a strategy on adaptation to climate change, based on an integrated assessment of the factors that determine the current climate vulnerability and future climate change in the territory located in the coastal plain in central El Salvador, between the towns of Zacatecoluca, Jiquilisco and Tecoluca.
One of the biggest challenges in this research was addressing the issue of climate vulnerability using an environment-systemic approach by adopting an interdisciplinary approach. The study incorporated theoretical and empirical knowledge and local perceptions, by rescuing the oral tradition and the active, permanent and progressive participation of the residents and local partners organizations.
