This study documents the price of kerosene in rural areas of five African countries: Senegal, Mali, Ghana, Tanzania and Kenya. The goal is to document the cost of kerosene for those who buy in small quantities in order to better inform cost benefit analyses for the transition from kerosene lighting to modern off-grid lighting systems. The study reveals a substantial disparity between the price of kerosene in cities and in rural villages.
