This report examines progress in the development and deployment of key clean energy technologies. It argues that although the deployment of solar photovoltaics, onshore wind and electric vehicles is still increasing rapidly, their growth rates are slowing. It highlights that growth of coal-fired power generation exceeds that of all non-fossil fuels combined. It argues that there is an inadequate political and financial commitment to long-term sustainability of the global energy system. The report provides specific recommendations to governments on how to scale up deployment of these key technologies toward a secure, clean and competitive energy future.
