This report defines "energy poverty" and provides an overview of the extent of energy poverty worldwide and by region. The overview is accompanied by a description of the various negative socio-economic impacts of energy poverty and a summary of the minimalist "energy plus" approach to solving it. The report compiles best practices and lessons learned for energy service delivery, financing, and mainstreaming.
