Technology Roadmap: Carbon Capture and Storage

This road map provides a vision for addressing the challenges associated with carbon capture and sequestration (CCS). Considerations addressed include financing large-scale demonstration projects and integration of CCS into greenhouse gas policies; addressing the higher cost and efficiency penalty of CCS through research and demonstration; developing and financing adequate carbon dioxide sequestration capacity and infrastructure; developing appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks to enable projects to proceed safely; and expanding international collaboration, particularly via increased awareness in developing economies with large fossil fuel use.
