When speaking of the Caribbean in the context of climate change the former is usually viewed as being a victim of the latter. While this is mostly true, what is often omitted is the fact that the region can and will play its part in global mitigation efforts - thereby taking a more proactive approach to its future. The exercise described herein involves the study of different types of renewable technologies and mitigative strategies, with the aim of making recommendations to the governments on the development of their renewable energy sector. The recommendations may also assist in achieving their long-term objectives of reducing poverty and promoting healthy economies and sustainable livelihoods in keeping with the Millennium Development Goals.
