To date there has been little formal, empirical research that has been conducted on capacity building for disaster risk management (DRM), and as a result international actors lack robust, evidence-based guidance on how capacity for DRM can be effectively generated at national and local levels. This country study on Myanmar is part of a wider research project been designed as an initial step towards filling that knowledge and evidence gap.Three programmes emerged as appropriate case studies for this report:
Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC): Strengthening DRR through Policy Dialogue, Technical Support and Building Capacity of Government and Civil Society Partners
International Orgnanisation for Migration (IOM): Community-based DRR initiatives in South East Myanmar
Myammar Red Cross (MRCS): Community Based DRR and Urban DRR programme (CBDRR and UDRR)
