Published every ten years, IFAD's report provides a comprehensive view of rural poverty, much needed now to put into proper perspective the policy shifts being brought about by increasing urbanisation. The report outlines the emerging agenda for sustainable agricultural intensification, characterised by practices aimed at improving soil fertility, structure and water-retaining capacity using a combination of organic, biological and mineral resources, and at using water more sparingly and efficiently.
