This report is based on a series of interviews with 13 operating entities in the Western Interconnection in the United States about their implementation of wind and solar forecasting, jointly referred to as variable generation forecasting. The report covers additional topics, including sub-hourly scheduling, grid operator training, and forecasting for distributed solar resources.
