This report provided a basis for discussion during a U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities strategy workshop. It explores the current issues and trends in motor vehicle fuel economy in the United States as well as recent research on fuel economy information. The paper also analyses federal incentives, successful strategies and future challenges and the environmental benefits associated with improved fuel economy.
