This report discusses the situation of the cement industry and explores the chance to replace fossil fuels with alternative fuels. Among alternative fuels, fuelwood plays a very important role because its potential to reduce the carbon dioxide emissions, inasmuch as emissions generated by its combustion, shows a neutral accumulative effect in the atmosphere. This document outlines the possibility to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by using fuelwood produced from wood energy plantations, taking as a survey case the HOLCIM's cement plant located in Nobsa (Boyacá).
