This journal article describes several issues of a political nature that are associated with the implementation of renewables, with a focus on the European push for the production of liquid biofuels. The article discusses the political issues at stake in the promotion of biofuel crops in the EU. The authors draw contrasts with other examples of the implementation of renewables, including the development of solar photovoltaics in the United States and wind power in the United Kingdom.
