This report summarises the potential impact of climate change on health and mortality for 2030 and 2050.
It argues that better evidence is required regarding future risks to health from global climate change in order to inform mitigation (low carbon) and adaptation (public health) policy development. It states that future climate change is likely to affect proximal and distal (upstream) risk factors for a wide range of health outcomes, but only some of these causal pathways can be modelled using currently available methods and at the global level. This report uses scenarios to estimate the effect of climate change on selected health outcomes in the context of uncertain climate and global health futures.
