The principal objectives of this study are to review the case for renewable electricity generation from onshore wind, offshore wind, and marine, and explore alternative support frameworks and policies that would allow governments to cost-effectively meet near- and long-term objectives for renewables. The three technologies considered in this study were deliberately chosen because they are at different life-cycle stages. The underlying frameworks could equally be applied to other renewable energy sources and to low-carbon technologies in general.
