Ethiopia is one of the least developed countries (LDCs) in the World, making the country more vulnerable to climate variability and change. In recent years environment has become a key issue in Ethiopia. The main environmental problems include deforestation, soil erosion, biodiversity loss, desertification, recurrent drought, flooding, and water and air pollution. National Adaptation Programmes of Action (NAPA) is a mechanism within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), designed to help LDCs like Ethiopia identify their priority adaptation needs to climate change and communicate these needs to the Conference of Parties (COP) of the UNFCCC.
