This document, produced by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN), summarizes key lessons from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Special Report on Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation (SREX). This is done with an explicit focus on Asia. It begins by outlining ten key messages from the SREX report. The following sections focus on the nature of changing disaster risks, possible future climate impacts in the region and the range of responses required to better manage the risks of climate extremes and disasters. The final concluding section considers the implications for the region of Asia in more detail.
