The purpose of this Working Paper is to inform, guide and support the development of responsive teaching programmes and capacity, and to stimulate more research to address climate change issues within the African continent. It is drawn from proceedings of a symposium organized by the African Network for Agriculture, Agro forestry and Natural Resources (ANAFE) whose assigned mission is to improve the quality, relevance and application of tertiary agricultural education. The conference which was held in August 2008 drew over 100 participants from sub-Saharan Africa and beyond and concluded that policy makers, education managers and the academia will need to establish a common platform for an integrated and coordinated response. Inter-sectoral cooperation and regional collaboration are also important if the aforementioned goals are to be reached.
