The development objective of the Ouarzazate Concentrated Solar Power Project for Morocco is to support the Borrower (the Moroccan Solar Agency MASEN) in the development of the 500 Megawatt Ouarzazate solar power plant by financing the first phase (160 Megawatt gross) through a public private partnership (PPP), to increase power generation from solar power and mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and local environment impact. There are two components of the project. The first component of the project is financing the initial investment. This component wills development of the plant through the formation of a PPP between the Borrower and a competitively selected partner, and construction of the Associated Facilities. The second component of the project is operational support. This component will support the acquisition of kilowatt-hours produced by the project implementing entity to partially cover the difference in the price at which the Borrower would buy the electricity generated by the Plant and the price at which the Borrower would sell such electricity to ONE.
