This paper provides an overview of the current status of offshore wind power deployment in the United States, as well as an assessment of current trends and a projection of the potential for future offshore wind power deployment. This paper assesses the rationale for wind power development as well as its context in the United States, analyzing domestic policies and potential and comparing them both to Europe and the greater world. It also contains an overview of offshore wind power economics and regulatory pathways for siting and permitting installations.
